Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
